Transportation Leaders Against Human Trafficking (TLAHT) Pledge

Dear Texas Airport Community,

The Texas Airports District Office wanted to make to update you on an important Department of Transportation (DOT) Initiative.

As January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month, Department of Transportation Secretary Chao and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) invite you to participate in solidarity with the transportation sector to support the “combat against human trafficking” .

We’d like YOU sign a leadership pledge acknowledging that you are “Transportation Leader Against Human Trafficking”.  Becoming a signatory to the TLAHT pledge helps make your stakeholders aware of your commitment to engaging on this important issue, and signals your organization’s willingness to act.  

When you sign up to be leader you will have the opportunity to participate in being acknowledged as “1 of 100 pledges within 100 days”. If you are 1 in 100, you will have the opportunity to join Secretary Chao and other transportation leaders in a ceremony highlighting the national transportation efforts.

TLAHT Pledge Checklist

As a way of showing leadership, support, and solidarity in the battle against modern day slavery, the Department of Transportation invites transportation stakeholders to join us in combating human trafficking within the transportation sector by signing the Transportation Leaders Against Human Trafficking (TLAHT) pledge.  Becoming a signatory to the TLAHT pledge helps make your stakeholders aware of your commitment to engaging on this important issue, and signals your organization’s willingness to act.  

Here’s how to sign-up for the TLAHT pledge:

  1. DOWNLOAD: Download the Transportation Leaders Against Human Trafficking pledge from the DOT website: https://www.transportation.gov/TLAHT/Pledge
  2. SIGN: Ensure that the pledge is signed by a senior official from your organization who is authorized to make this voluntary commitment on behalf of your organization.
  3. SUBMIT: Return the signed pledge via email to [email protected].
  4. ANNOUNCE: Consider announcing your commitment within your organization and to your external stakeholders.

Human Trafficking Awareness Month Pledge Event

You are invited to attend the USDOT “100 Pledges in 100 Days” event focused on combating human trafficking in the transportation sector, which will take place on January 28, 2020 at 11 am, in the DOT West Building Atrium, 1200 New Jersey Avenue, SE, Washington, DC 20590.

Nearly 25 million people across the globe are victims of modern slavery.  Human traffickers utilize transportation systems to transport their victims.  Transportation leaders have an opportunity to amplify counter-trafficking efforts to combat this heinous crime.  The event will feature remarks by Secretary of Transportation Elaine L. Chao and other public and private transportation leaders highlighting their counter-trafficking efforts.  Attendees will be invited to sign the Department’s Transportation Leaders Against Human Trafficking (TLAHT) pledge to combat human trafficking in the transportation sector.
