General Information

The 2019 Airports Conference of the Americas will be held August 11-13, 2019 (tentative) in Cartagena, Colombia, and is presented by the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE), the South Central Chapter AAAE, and the International Association of Airport Executives (IAAE), and being held in collaboration with the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). This year's conference is being hosted by the Rafael Nuñez International Airport at Cartagena de Indias.

Airport and aviation executives from Latin America, the Caribbean and the U.S. will gather at this annual conference to discuss important topics affecting international aviation in the U.S., Caribbean and Latin American region. Attendees of this conference will have the opportunity to hear how others are handling current challenges and to discover new solutions for safety, security, commercial air service development and infrastructure development and funding issues. This is the best forum for U.S. airport, government and industry suppliers to network with representatives from the Caribbean and Latin America and to discuss the challenges associated with managing an international airport in today's fast-moving environment.

Our agenda typically includes representatives from organizations such as FAA, IATA, ICAO, and other aviation entities. Participation is highly encouraged as the intent of these sessions is to initiate greater collaboration in safety between all stakeholders going forward. Examples of session topics will include runway safety, infrastructure planning and funding, commercial air service development, wildlife management, new concession trends and security.

During the last few years, attendees of this meeting have represented the following countries: U.S. and the U.S. Virgin Islands, Canada, Mexico, Panama, Jamaica, Peru, Brazil, Antigua and Barbuda, St. Lucia, Turks and Caicos Islands, Barbados, Curacao, Cayman Islands, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Anguilla, Bahamas, Martinique, Trinidad and Tobago, Aruba, Bonaire, Costa Rica, Haiti, St. Maarten and Ecuador.

Travel Information

Documents Required for Entry into Colombia

This information is valid as of January 8, 2019, but subject to change. Be travel smart and re-confirm this information by visiting the Colombian Embassy or Consulate website in your country of citizenship.

U.S. Citizens: Upon arrival in Colombia , U.S. citizens must have: (1) a U.S. passport valid for the duration of your stay (it's recommended that your passport's expiration date be at least six months from the date you plan to depart Colombia; (2) one blank passport page required for entry stamp; and (3) a return or onward ticket. All Other Nationalities: Citizens of all other countries should consult the Embassy of Colombia in their country of citizenship for complete details on Colombian entry requirements.

Hotel Accommodations

Rooms are being held at InterContinental Cartagena de Indias, Bocagrande Carrera 1 No. 5-01, Cartagena de Indias, 13000117. All attendees will receive a special rate of $139 USD for single/double occupancy plus taxes and a $3 Tourism Fee per night. The special rate includes buffet breakfast at the hotel's Kanuu Restaurant. The last day to receive this discounted rate is Friday, July 19, 2019.  Rooms may sell out before this date, so make your reservations early. Guaranteed reservations must be canceled 72 hours prior to the day of arrival to avoid a penalty of one night's room and tax.

NOTE: AAAE reserves the right to cancel this program if the number of registrants is insufficient. In this event, we will notify all registrants and refund the registration fee in full. However, any costs incurred by the registrant, such as hotel cancellation or airline penalties, are the responsibility of the registrant. Confirmation letters will be emailed to attendees within two weeks of receipt of registration. AAAE Media Access Policy: The American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) reserves the right to grant at its sole discretion access to TV, radio and print media organizations or individuals that have registered and received prior authorization from AAAE at least 72 hours prior to an AAAE event they wish to cover.
